Here in America we've been having a bit of an economic crisis due largely in part to a terrible housing market - can anyone say "foreclosure"? We've driven ourselves into debt - big time!

My mom raised me to view debt as a bad word. Did I listen? Not in my twenties. I have expensive taste so of course I had to have the best of everything. I was quick to charge and slooooow to pay back.

Hungry? Drive through a heart-attack-in-a-bag-served-with-a-smile fast food restaurant. Oops, no cash so let's charge it. Thirsty? Drive through a quick-sugar-rush-served-by-a-perky-barista coffee shack and get a fix. Oops, no cash again so let's charge it.

I don't know how true this story is...

But I heard that a female college student had a drink from Starbuck's everyday thanks to her student loan. When she graduated she owed something like $15,000 because of her coffee habit. Yikes!

Here's what I know is absolutely true. We spend what we don't have because we lack the wisdom to exercise self control. We spend what we don't have to impress neighbors, friends and associates.

I know I may sound like a broken record, but an Irresistible Woman™ knows when to say, "No!" For example, I used to own a motorcyle. I sold it when I started having medical issues. Recently I've been thinkin' about that bike.

I miss my motorcycle. I miss riding on the road feeling free. The weather here in northern California is perfect riding weather right now. So do you know what I did?

I started looking at motorcycles online. I was comparing bikes and even looking at sporty scooters - you know, because gas prices are so high it would make sense to get a bike of some kind right?

Wrong! Why is it wrong? Because I've been working diligently to get myself out of the financial mess I got myself into in my twenties. I have just one last credit card to pay off. That's my focus, not getting another bike.

So I reigned myself in and said, "No" to getting another bike. It actually felt good!

My question to you my friend is this, how much debt are you in if any at all? Is it really worth getting another coffee, dress or pair of shoes to keep living under the burden of debt?

"Christina brings up an interesting point that strengths can become weaknesses if not controlled. She offers up a good explanation of how you can go about controlling your strengths. She also brings up a much overlooked point that some people need recognition for their accomplishments, and encourages you to recognize them."
